The State Electoral Commission (SEC) is preparing for the Municipal elections. The SEC is completing the preliminary exercise in the wake of the High Court's approval to complete the pre-election process of municipalities. The city's municipal reservation list is expected to be filled by the state government. The government intended to hold the elections before or after August 15, but many cases are filed in the High Court resulted in the delay of elections.
The court, which heard the
petitions a week ago, announced that it would release the verdict after Dussehra, also the court has given the nod to pre-exercise the election management. Officials say the verdict is likely to be issued in two days. The final provisions of the reservation will be released shortly after the decision. The SEC has advised the state government to complete the prerequisites and arrangements for the conduction of the elections before the Supreme Court can issue its final verdict.
