As part of strengthening health infrastructure and providing quality healthcare facilities to urban people, 27 more Basthi Dawakhanas in different parts of the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) jurisdiction will be set up.
“The State government has planned to set up 300 Basti Dawakhanas and 256 are already operational. Works pertaining to 27 new facilities are
underway at a brisk pace,” said GHMC in a press release.
A majority of people in slums depend on these clinics for healthcare and they are a boon for the poor. The Basthi Dawakhanas were made available to people in 2018 and the main idea was to provide quality healthcare for free near the doorstep of the urban poor.
