Mayor Bonthu Rammohan said the State Government has sanctioned over Rs.282 crore for protection, beautification and development of 19 lakes in Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) limits and directed officials to expedite the works.
In Kukatpally constituency alone, protection, beautification and development works were under progress at nine lakes. On Monday, the Mayor along with GHMC Commissioner D Lokesh Kumar and other elected public representatives reviewed the progress of works in Kukatpally constituency.
During the meeting, officials informed that Full Tank Level (FTL) capacities of the nine lakes were fixed and already fencing has
been completed at six lakes. Three lakes are equipped with Ganesh immersion ponds and water hyacinth clearing works are under progress at four lakes.
Regarding Boin Cheruvu development works, Rammohan said Rs.14.45 crore was sanctioned for taking up these works. Officials said fencing works around the lake were completed, besides construction of a Ganesh immersion pond.
The Mayor instructed the officials to expedite the protection, beautification and development at all lakes in GHMC limits. Under Haritha Haram, mass tree plantation programmes should be conducted at the lakes to develop green cover, he said.
