Stent prices reduced under Aarogyasri

The Aarogyasri Healthcare Trust has made changes in the payment to be made to hospitals after capping prices of stents used in heart surgeries by the Centre.

The bare metallic stent, which used to cost Rs 55,000 earlier, now has been reduced to Rs 37,719.The cost of drug eluding stents will be reduced to Rs



61,177 from Rs 65,000.

“The stents used for clearing the blocks in the vessels supplying to the heart were very costly. 

“The new tariffs can save us about Rs 3.23 crore annually“ Dr Chandra Shekhar, chief executive officer of the trust, said.
