The State
government on Wednesday extended by one year the term of the Sudhir Commission
which was constituted to enquire into the educational and socio-economic
conditions of Muslims in the State.
The Commission had
recently submitted its report to Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao
recommending Muslim reservation to be raised from the existing four per cent to
9-12 per cent. The government forwarded the report to the newly-constituted BC
commission
for appropriate suggestions. The State government is also firm on
introducing the Muslim Reservation Bill in the Budget session of the State
Legislature.
According to the
fresh extension order, the Commission’s tenure will end in January, 2018. This
is the second extension for the Commission, having got a three month extension
earlier. The other members of the Commission are Mohammed Ameerullah Khan,
Abdus Shaban and Mohammed Abdul Bari.
