Summer sports camps to kick off from today

GHMC summer camps are being conducted every year and over 32 lakh students and youngsters have been trained in different sports and games disciplines. Among these, many have won laurels at the national and international level competitions.

This year, the municipal corporation is conducting the summer camp in 56 sports and games disciplines at 2014 centres. In this year’s camp, 2,065 national and international repute coaches will be training participants aged between 6 years and 16 years and the training sessions will be conducted every day from 6 am to 8



am.

Every month, the municipal corporation conducts tournaments in each discipline at different playgrounds. Participants, who perform well during the summer camps are selected into special teams and are trained and sent to national and international events.

This year’s summer camp in the central zone will be inaugurated by Mayor Bonthu Rammohan at Victory Playground today at 7.30 am. Municipal Administration and Urban Development Minister K T Rama Rao and other Ministers are expected to attend inaugural ceremony.
