Suryapet: A trader was fined Rs 5,000 by the Suryapet municipal authorities for chopping the branches of a tree, planted on Janagon road during Haritha Haram drive and dumping them roadside.

Owner of Praveen Traders Maroju Janaiah chopped the branches of a tree planted during Haritha Haram in violation of the rules.

Speaking to Telangana Today, Suryapet Municipal Commissioner P Ramanujula Reddy told the owner of Praveen Traders had cut down the



branches of a tree, which was planted at his shed about two years ago under Haritha Haram. Moreover, he also dumped the branches and waste on the roadside.

 He informed that sanitary and municipal staff kept an eye on Haritha Haram saplings and plants and imposed penalties on those cutting them at the cost of greenery in the town. He reminded that the municipality also imposed a Rs two lakh penalty on Reliance Trends store for cutting a tree located in front of it.
