Hyderabad: Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation’s (GHMC) claims of improved sanitation and the impact of different Swachh Hyderabad initiatives will be put to test as the Swachh Survekshan 2018 survey commenced in the city on Monday.
A few quality check teams from the Central government arrived in the city and interacted with GHMC Commissioner B Janardhan Reddy. Last time, Hyderabad bagged top position among the Metro cities and this time, the corporation intensified efforts to improve its performance.
Accordingly, the corporation launched a
60-day action plan and conducted different programmes on the need to keep the city clean. As part of these initiatives, a record attempt was made by sweeping the Baghlingampally main road with over 15,000 students last week and a mega awareness programme was conducted at Uppal stadium.
As part of the survey, the Central teams will verify the documentation on the sanitation measures in the city submitted by the civic body and conduct field inspections. Priority will be accorded to dry and wet garbage segregation in the city, provision of compost pits and public toilets.
