The biggest survey conducted in various cities and urban centers across India, Swachh Survekshan 2019, organized by Swachh Bharath Mission, will be held from January 4 to 31. In the first survey conducted in 2015, Hyderabad stood at 275th position among 476 cities surveyed. It improved its position to 19th in 2016. The city stood at 22nd position among 434 cities surveyed in the year 2017. The city improved its ranking in 2016 due to the joint efforts of GHMC and Telangana State government. They together initiated several
cleanliness programs in the city.
In 2018, about 4,041 cities and towns participated in the survey, and Hyderabad stood at 27th rank. This year, Swachh Survekshan Survey is being conducted in 4,379 cities, and as part of the survey, the team of Swatchh Bharath Mission will ask residents several questions on cleanliness. In this regard, GHMC Commissioner M Dana Kishore appealed to the people to give positive answers to the questions in order to improve the city ranking.
