The deadly swine flu (H1N1) virus that is now feared to have mutated into a new stronger strain, claimed three more lives over the last three days.The latest victim, 48-yearold Mohan, from ECIL, Hyderabad succumbed to the virus on Monday night after a prolonged treatment at the Gandhi Hospital.
Two more deaths were reported from the hospital over the weekend taking the toll since January to 23. The deadly swine flu virus claimed three more lives in three days.
While five-year-old Moksha succumbed to the virus on Saturday, four-year-old Karthik died of complications on Sunday evening at the staterun facility . Doctors said Mohan, the latest
swine flu victim, was suffering from multiple problems, including respiratory issues.
In April alone, 12 children were admitted to the Gandhi Hospital -all of them below 10.“Now, we have only five swine flu cases of children being treated at the hospital and have discharged the remaining.The five children who are still at the hospital are recovering,“ said Dr Shravan Kumar, superintendent, Gandhi Hospital.Health authorities said most of the paediatric cases have been referred to the state-facility by private hospitals in the city .
This year, there have been reports of over 1,200 swine flu cases in Telangana so far.
