T-Hub2 will boost IT sector: KTR

The Telangana government will be going in for four times bigger T-Hub2 soon. Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao would be laying the foundation stone for it.Mentioning this at the 57th annual general body meeting of the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) in Hyderabad on Saturday, IT Minister K T Rama Rao said the state government was giving a major boost to the IT sector through its policies. The minister said the government was striving to empower the citizens of the state by providing internet to every household in the next one and half years.
KTR said the T-Hub and Digital Telangana, initiated to encourage startups, were gaining appreciation from various quarters of the IT world.The government had launched a Water Grid project to provide drinking water to every household in Telangana for which trenches were being dug up to lay pipelines, KTR said.  
The government had therefore decided to lay fiber optic cables along with the water pipelines to ensure that people received free internet



along with basic needs like water. He said that in the next 18 months every household would get internet for free.
Speaking on the occasion, Union IT and Law minister Ravi Shankar Prasad said the Union government was aiming to empower people with Digital India initiative. He said that of the 19,000 startups in the country, 5,000 came up in the last two years, which showed the revolution in the IT sector.
The Union minister observed: “India has supported the multi-stakeholder model of internet governance and we are happy to note that the transition has taken place. The internet is a great equalizer and helps to connect all. It is now time to look ahead, to build the internet of the future with the participation of all stakeholders.” 
To expand India’s participation in the multi-stakeholder model, ICANN would work with India’s stakeholders, including the Government of India, to develop a structured framework focusing on fo stering the development of the DNS industry in India, he said.
