Minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav and officials inspected the preparations at Exhibition Ground for the administration of fish prasadam by the Bathini family on June 9.
He said 250 members of the Bathini family will administer the fish prasadam. The government will supply the murrel fish, into which the prasadam is stuffed, through the fisheries department.
The minister said people from Haryana,
Maharashtra and Uttar Pradesh had would begin reaching the venue by Wednesday for Friday’s event. He said more counters would be set up this year.
The 190-year-old event is being held after a three-year break for Covid-19. There is a belief that a yellow ball of medicine, shoved into a live murrel fish, when swallowed, helps people get rid of bronchial ailments.
