Fisheries Minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav flagged off the mobile fish outlets at his office in Masab Tank on Friday. Animal Husbandry and Fisheries Secretary Anitha Rajendra, Fisheries commissioner Suvarna, Telangana State Livestock Development Authority CEO Manjuvani, Animal Husbandry director Laxmareddy and other officials were present.
Speaking on the occasion, the Minister said the mobile fish outlets were being introduced in the State capital to decongest crowds in fish markets and also supply quality fish to consumers at affordable prices in their respective localities. He said that due to new water bodies which came into utilisation after completion of various irrigation projects, fish cultivation had increased manifold in the State.
“The State produced around three lakh tonnes of fish in 2019-20. We will be releasing fish seedlings into all the water bodies for the current fiscal as well,” he said.
The mobile fish outlets will also provide livelihood to members of the fishermen community in tune with the vision of Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao who has been encouraging traditional occupations to strengthen the rural economy. The mobile outlets will be equipped with all machinery, including deboning, dressing etc to offer fresh and quality fish meat and ice boxes, mini-refrigerators. In addition to this, they will also offer tasty fish curries of different varieties in the colonies and other places of the city.
