Minister for Municipal Administration and Urban Development (MA&UD) KT Rama Rao announced setting up of Hyderabad Road Task Force (HRTF) to oversee repair, improvement and maintenance of the entire road network in Hyderabad.
The Minister, who convened the first meeting of Task Force on Wednesday, directed the municipal officials to take up repair works on roads, which were damaged in the recent rains, on a war footing. Repair works worth Rs 77 crore will be launched in the city in the coming days, he said.
The Road Task Force will be responsible for taking up and completing
repair works of all the 350 inundation points in the city that were identified recently, before next monsoon. It would complete the entire white top laying works in areas where the water choking points have been identified, he said. In the coming years, the State government will launch a massive exercise of expanding roads with an overall cost of Rs 20,000 crore.
To address short and long term issues related to roads and also to oversee the entire road expansion and new projects, there was a need to set up an exclusive Road Task Force for Hyderabad, the Minister said.
