The RTA will increase the number of slots online for the purpose to clear the rush, Joint Transport Commissioner J. Pandurang Naik said.
Mr. Naik said the discrepancy between current ownership of vehicles and registration details is mostly a problem of two-wheelers. Car-owners have an incentive to ensure transfer of ownership when they sell it, since if it remains in their
name, then they will have to pay an extra two per cent in life-time tax for the next car they buy.
Another official said that once the three commissionerates introduce the new system, it could be expanded to other districts as well since vehicle ownership complaints have also been arising from different parts of the state as well.
