The meteorology department predicted heavy to very heavy spells of rain for Telangana state this week, citing cyclonic circulations and evolving weather systems for the same.

Officials of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said a low-pressure area has been formed due to cyclonic circulation over the northwest Bay of Bengal, near Odisha. Further, another cyclonic circulation is likely to form over the northwest Bay of Bengal around July 18.

On Sunday, Mancherial recorded the highest rainfall in the state, at 74.5 mm, followed by Vikarabad, at 57 mm, and Bhadradri Kothagudem, at 54.5 mm, according to the Telangana State Development & Planning Society report.

and Patancheru, at 5.3 mm each.

A yellow alert for moderate to heavy rains has been issued by the IMD for most districts, including Adilabad, Komaram Bheem Asifabad, Nirmal, Mancherial, Nizamabad, Kamareddy, Jayashankar Bhupalapally, Mulugu, Bhadradri Kothagudem, Sangareddy, Vikarabad and Hyderabad.

The IMD said rains in the state will be accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning over the next five days, and issued a yellow alert in this regard as well.

Hyderabad will experience a generally cloudy sky with light to moderate rains or thundershowers, mostly in the evening and night, over the next 48 hours.
