The Budget session of the State Legislative Assembly and Council will begin on March 15 with Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan addressing a joint session of both the Houses on the opening day. Finance Minister T Harish Rao will present the State budget for 2021-22 financial year on March 18. A notification to this effect was issued on Tuesday.
Officials sources said the Governor will address the joint session at around 11 am on Monday, marking the commencement of the Budget session. On March 16, the Legislative Houses will pass resolutions condoling the death of legislators who passed away recently. They will hold discussion on the motion of thanks to the
Governor’s address on March 17, while the State budget will be presented at 11.30 am on March 18.
According to sources, the State Budget is in advanced stage of preparation. Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao had recently indicated that the State budget for 2021-22 will be a promising one with a bigger outlay than the previous budget focusing on welfare and development programmes. As per his instructions, Harish Rao has been holding daily review meetings with top officials from different departments to present a realistic budget. The Chief Minister will chair a meeting later this week and give final touches to the budget.
