The Telangana chief minister is said to be holding the cabinet meeting today at 4 pm. The Cabinet will be taking some crucial decisions on various issues. The cabinet has high importance as the government is holding it after a long time.
The meeting assumes importance as it is likely to deliberate on pending PRC and enhancement of retirement age of government employees, strike call given by the TSRTC employees, construction of the new secretariat building and linking of rivers.
Official sources said the government had received nine designs for the construction of new secretariat. KCR will place the designs before his Cabinet colleagues and will seek their opinion before taking a final decision. Global tenders will be called for the construction of the building.
The issue of enhancement of retirement age from the present 58 to 60 for government employees, reducing the age limit of 57 from 65 to
avail old-age pensions for the poor and the demands raised by the RTC employees, mainly the issue of merger of the corporation with the government, will be discussed in detail at the meeting.
KCR will also explain to the ministers about the state financial situation and the difficulties facing in meeting growing financial needs to fulfil all the promises, besides allocating funds for the current schemes. The issue of linking of river Krishna and Godavari proposed by KCR and AP Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy in the recently held meetings, status of 30-day action plan launched in all Panchayats and Huzurnagar byelections will also be discussed in the Cabinet meeting. The Chief Minister will also review the state of preparedness of the ministers in facing the municipal elections to be held by the end of the year. He will also seek suggestions from the ministers on the proposed Revenue Act.
