Union Tourism and Culture Minister G Kishan Reddy hoisted the national flag at Golkonda fort in Hyderabad on the occasion of Telangana Formation Day today.

Nine years ago, on this day, Telangana state came into being. The Union Ministry of Culture is holding two-day celebrations on the occasion at the historic Golkonda Fort in Hyderabad.

Speaking on the occasion Mr Reddy said the people's aspirations have not been fulfilled during the past 9 years and the state has become debt-ridden and place of corruption. He assured that the centre stands by people of Telangana and supports the development of the state.  

President Droupadi Murmu has greeted the people of Telangana on their Statehood Day. In a tweet, the President said, endowed with forests and wildlife, Telangana is also uniquely blessed with a rich cultural heritage and talented people. She said, this beautiful state is emerging as a hub of innovation and entrepreneurship. President Murmu conveyed best wishes for the continued growth and prosperity of Telangana.

The Ministry of Culture, in a statement, said it is celebrating



the 10th Telangana Formation Day at the Golconda Fort under the aegis of the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav. In a tweet, Mr. Reddy said the celebration is part of the Narendra Modi government's efforts to commemorate the legacy of martyrs who were part of the statehood movement and celebrate the rich culture of Telangana.

The activities to be held include a march past, photograph and painting exhibition, classical dance performances by Anandaji and her group, performances by Manjula Ramaswamy and her group. The public will also have the opportunity to witness performances by renowned Telugu singers.

The day will conclude with a spectacular performance by singer Shankar Mahadevan.

There will be captivating folk dance performances including Dimsa, Dappu and Gussadi. Additionally, a theatrical production on Raja Ram Mohan Roy will be staged. The day will culminate with a multilingual ''mushaira'' (poetic symposium).

The State formation Day will also be celebrated across the state while the main event will be held at the state Secretariat.
