Telangana CM demands Centre to withdraw cesses on Petrol, Diesel

Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao has demanded the Centre to withdraw cesses on Petrol and Diesel levied during the past 7 years. Addressing the media in Hyderabad he said the cesses levied during the past 7 years were totally unnecessary. Responding to a question, he denied considering any proposal to reduce VAT on petrol
and diesel in Telangana.

He further alleged that the Centre has been collecting Cess over petrol and diesel only to avoid States’ share in the revenue. He also said the TRS government will fight for the withdrawal of cesses on Petrol and Diesel from now onwards.
