The state government on Wednesday showered sops on advocates.Law minister A. Indrakaran Reddy and TRS Karimangar MP B.Vinod Kumar announced  free Rs 2 lakh health insurance and Rs 10 lakh accident insurance for advocates.

They handed over premium cheques of Rs 33.30 crore to Oriental Insurance Company  for accident insurance and Rs 8.50  crore to United India Insurance for health insurance.

The government has allocated Rs 100 crore in the Budget for the welfare of advocates,



who played a key role during Telangana statehood agitation.Mr Reddy said 18,000 advocates have applied for health and accident insurance and the insurance scheme will be applicable to 36,000 beneficiaries who include their spouses.

He said both the schemes will be formally launched on June 2 on the occasion of fourth anniversary of formation of Telangana state.
Mr Vinod Kumar lauded the role of advocates during the Telangana statehood agitation.
