The Telangana State Government on Thursday has recommended the dissolution of the State Legislative Assembly.
The decision was taken at a meeting of the State Cabinet that lasted less than half an hour and was chaired by Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao at his camp office at Pragati Bhavan here in the city.
The Chief Minister is expected to announce the decision formally at a press conference later at 2.30 pm, at Telangana Bhavan, the TRS party headquarters here in the city.
Soon after the Cabinet took the decision, Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao went to meet with Governor ESL
Narasimhan at the Raj Bhavan to present him with a copy of the resolution of the Council of Ministers recommending the dissolution of the Assembly.
He is next expected to go to the Telangana Amaraveerula Sthupam at Gun Park opposite the Legislative Assembly to pay respects to Telangana martyrs.
Thursday’s decision by the State Cabinet brought the curtains down on the first elected Legislative Assembly of Telangana State. Elections to the Telangana Assembly were held in April and May of 2014 as part of the polls to the Assembly of the then united Andhra Pradesh.
