The state government will sign an MoU with cement manufactures for supply of cement bag at Rs.230 per bag for the double bedroom housing programme.
The state government issued orders on Wednesday permitting the managing director of Telangana State Housing Corporation Limited to enter into an umbrella MoU with cement companies for supply of PPC/PSC cement at Rs 230 per bag. The rate includes loading, transportation, unloading at `2 per bag and all taxes.
Each weaker section house will need 10 tonnes of cement. The rate will be applicable to 2BHK programme for the next three years and the district Collector or Commissioner GHMC will enter agreement with
the cement companies allotted to their areas.
It may be recalled that the state government sanctioned 2,72,596 houses for the years 2015-16 and 2016-17 to the house-less poor families in the state.As the cement prices were high, housing minister A Indrakaran Reddy and municipal administration minister KTR held discussions with the cement manufacturing companies recently and came to a broad understanding.
Principal secretary (housing) G Ashok Kumar on Wednesday issued orders allowing the officials to enter into MoUs with cement companies. The cement companies agreed to supply cement with very nominal profit to the government for 2 BHK houses.
