Hyderabad: General Administration and Finance Departments (GAD) gave a green signal to Minority Welfare Department (MWD) to recruit 66 Urdu translators through Telangana Urdu Academy. The posts include assistant directors and 60 Urdu officers in MWD department.
Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao on November 9 announced in the Assembly that 66 Urdu translators will be appointed in various government offices within 60 days. On his instruction, Secretary of Urdu Academy SA Shukoor sent a proposal to GAD, Finance, Law and Planning Departments on creation of these posts. Two departments already gave a nod, while the other two are examining the recruitment norms and framing the service rules for the newly created
posts.
Shukoor said the government was appointing translators to promote not only the use of Urdu Language in all key departments, but also with an aim to help those who can present their issues only in Urdu and not in Telugu or English. In such cases, applications received in Urdu, need to be translated to Telugu or English and presented for further action.
He said a selection committee of experts will be formed to finalise the mode of examination and criteria of selection of candidates for the jobs. Shukoor said that once he gets clearance from all departments, the file pertaining to recruitment will be send to the CM’s office, after which MWD will issue a notification for the recruitment. This process will take more than on month, he said.
