The State government would fulfil all the promises made by the TRS in the election manifesto, Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao said. People have blessed the party with a huge mandate for its policies and programmes after four and a half years of its rule. “I bow my head and thank them,” he added.

Chandrashekhar Rao said like in its first term, the TRS government would fulfil 100 per cent of all its assurances. “Our promises are not like shooting arrows in the dark,” he said, adding that every one of them was a result of careful attention to what people need. “Not only did we keep all our promises in our first term but implemented 72 schemes and programmes that were not part of the TRS’ 2014 election manifesto.

These were based on the needs of the people, his own experience with the challenges faced by people and government findings on different issues.

“This time too, we will not only implement all our promises but are open to new ideas based on what people need,” he

said.

In his reply on Sunday to the discussion on Governor’s address in the Assembly, the Chief Minister said the government was working out the modalities of the number of instalments in which the up to Rs 1 lakh farm loan waiver would be implemented in. “We estimate paying about Rs 24,000 crore to banks,” he said.

Defending the Governor’s address, which was described as lacking in details by Congress member Gandra Venkata Ramana Reddy, the Chief Minister said the address was a reflection of the TRS government’s plans, decisions and the ruling party’s manifesto. “The Governor is not separate from the government. His speech is not a budget document,” he said.

He said the Central government controlled the issue of ensuring remunerative prices to crops. With this being the case, the State government had plans to ensure Telangana farmers get good and remunerative prices for their produce with the setting up of food processing centres.
