Governor Tamilisai Soundarajan on Wednesday urged doctors not to get demoralised with sporadic posts on social media to malign them. She told them they were doing a commendable job being in the forefront in fight against the Covid-19 pandemic. She stated that the doctors were attending to the patients at the cost of their family life.

Interacting with doctors and superintendents of Covid-19 hospitals through a video conference from the Raj Bhavan on the occasion of the National Doctors’ Day, the Governor who is a doctor herself, assured them all support from the government during these testing times.

She urged people not to panic,



stating that adequate system was in place to take care of them. “Given our dense population, the Central and State governments are countering the pandemic in an efficient way when compared with many other countries,” she said.

She exhorted the people to maintain physical distance, wear masks, do frequent hand washing and avoid gatherings which will help the nation successfully root out the pandemic.

Earlier, she offered floral tributes to the portrait of Bharat Ratna Dr BC Roy, whose birth anniversary is being celebrated as the National Doctor’s Day on July 1 every year.
