Government Whip and Chennur MLA Balka Suman said the government was giving paramount importance to increase the greenery of the State and Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao was striving hard to achieve 33 per cent of forest cover. He convened a review meeting with forest and municipal authorities in Chennur on Friday.
Suman stated that the government was committed to enhance the forests and to protect the environment. He informed that Telanganaku Harita Haram, the largest plantation initiative in the country, was conceived to convert State in Harita Telangana. He stated that the plantation programme was being held as a movement and everyone was voluntarily planting saplings.
The government whip instructed the authorities of the
Forest department to take steps for protecting the saplings and existing forests by preventing encroachments and smuggling. He told officials of the civic body to expedite the works pertaining to the beautification of Chennur town and the creation of a mini bank bund. He said that the municipality was undergoing a remarkable makeover.
The legislator later visited a nursery belonging to the Forest department at Lingampalli village in Chennur mandal. He laid the foundation stone to Raithu Vedika building at Kishtampet village in Chennur and planted saplings on the premises of it. He participated in a similar event held at Asnad and Sundarashala villages in Chennur mandal.
