The Telangana government has formed four committees for COVID-19 vaccine execution in the state. The committees will execute, supervise and monitor the vaccination programme.
As per the orders issued by the government on Friday, the committees include -- State Steering Committee, State Task Force, District Task Force and Mandal Task Force. Meanwhile, the principal secretary of State Health and Family Welfare Department Syed Ali Murtaza Rizvi said that preparations for the possible introduction of the vaccine had begun.
He said that in the view of the huge demand for the
vaccine the initial supply will be limited and the priority will be given to the high-risk groups for vaccine administration and other groups will be included eventually.
"The introduction of the vaccine may take over a year with multiple groups being included beginning from health care workers," Rizvi said. He further said that the state, district and Mandal level officials will be issued an advisory and vaccine implementation mechanism while ensuring minimal disruption of other routine health care services, including routine immunisation.
