Telangana Government has issued a health advisory against seasonal flu as the Met authorities in Hyderabad predict dry weather across Telangana for the next seven days. The Director of Public Health and Family Welfare has said in the health advisory that low temperatures dropping to 15 degrees in some districts may increase the spread of acute respiratory infections like influenza. Stating that seasonal influenza is a contagious respiratory infection caused by influenza viruses, the authorities cautioned the people to take preventive measures.
The authorities informed that it spreads easily through
coughing or sneezing with symptoms include fever, cough, sore throat, body aches and fatigue. The authorities further informed that though most people recover within a week without treatment, they asked pregnant women, children under 5, adults over 65 years and individuals with chronic illnesses or weakened immunity should consult a doctor if infected.
The advisory further asked to call 108 ambulance services during health emergencies and seek immediate medical attention for high fever, breathing difficulty, bluish lips, or altered behaviour.
