Chief Minister K.
Chandrashekhar Rao, accused former Union Minister P. Chidambaram, of reading
out the Congress script on development of Telangana. “He is probably blind and
cannot witness the progress achieved by the new State in a short span of two
and half years”, KCR remarked.
Addressing a public meeting at Tirumalaipally in Khammam district on Tuesday, he took potshots at Chidambaram for questioning the performance of TRS government. Chidambaram was not a native of Telangana and hence did not know what development took place here.
Telangana was
implementing welfare measures with
an outlay of Rs. 35,000 crore which no other
State was doing, the Chief Minister said, and asked the Congress leader whether
any Congress-ruled State was giving Rs. 1000 pension for old aged and widows
and Rs. 1500 pension for the physically challenged. He also wanted to know
whether super fine rice for students of residential schools and colleges was
being given anywhere. “Chidambaram should answer this”, KCR said as the crowd
cheered.
The Chief Minister criticised the opposition parties for creating hurdles in the construction of Medigadda project. His government was committed to irrigate one crore acres, he said, and added that it had become a habit for the opposition to seek judicial interventions and delay projects.
