Telangana government has requested the Union Minister of State for Communications to hold the India Telecom Summit 2018 in Hyderabad. 
In a letter addressed to the Communications Ministry, State IT Minister KT Rama Rao outlined the various initiatives that the state IT Department has undertaken and also gave on overview of Telangana Fibergrid. 

Telangana is making strides in creating a well-entrenched and sustainable ecosystem of innovation, entrepreneurship and manufacturing in the Communications and Information Technology sector, he said.The State's Department of Information Technology, electronics and Communications (ITE&C) has introduced a progressive and business-friendly IT Policy in 2016 followed by 9 subsector policies, for promotion of electronics promotion, IoT, Data Centers, KTR claimed in his letter. 

We are currently in the implementation phase with an aim to connect each and every home in the State



with an optic fiber connection to give very high speed broadband, the Minister said.

This will create a very big market for telecommunication equipment in the State and we are promoting academic research in telecommunications and electronics sector through our premier institutes in the State and have created one of the largest workforce in the electronics sector through Telangana Academy for Skill and Knowledge (TASK).

In his letter, KTR also said that we would like to use this opportunity to showcase the region's readiness to host telecom equipment manufacturing in the sector and host the India Telecom Summit 2018 in Hyderabad, under the guidance of Communications Ministry, anytime in months of January-March of 2018. 

This summit will help the industry leaders to exchange ideas to create a roadmap for accelerating R&D and manufacturing growth across the telecom and ICT sector.
