The State Haj Committee will finalise list of aspirants based on the quota allotted by Central Haj Committee.
Union minister of minority affairs Smrithi Irani will launch the process in Delhi today. With this, the issue of quota will be cleared for states. Those who have applied will get messages when
and where to attend the draw of lots, a committee official told.
This year is also the first time that the Haj panel is accepting applications from women travelling alone, besides reviving, post-Covid,the reserved category for those aged 70 years and above. Women were allowed to travel without a male companion, but it had to be done in groups of four or more women. But, this time, even single women are allowed to apply.
