The Health Department is gearing up to deal with any situation in the wake of Nipah virus that is keeping the people in Kerala on the edge.
Officials confirmed on Monday that no cases related to Nipah virus had been reported here. Officials at the Airport Health Organization (AHO), which works under the supervision of Ministry of Health, are monitoring the situation at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA) in Shamshabad and keeping a watch on passengers travelling between Kerala
and Hyderabad.
Sources said the Health Department were contemplating to conduct a meeting with officials from the Railways and AHO on Tuesday to discuss the modalities on how to screen passengers if the situation aggravates.
It is learned at least two persons died due to viral fever in the past fortnight while two more are suspected to have died in similar circumstances in Kozhikode district of Kerala.
