Telangana High Court directs the GHMC to regularise the sanitation staff

Justice MS Ramchander Rao of the Telangana High Court on Friday directed the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) to regularise the sanitation staff working on a contract basis.

One Srinivas Chary and 97 others working as supervisors, field assistants and field workers in the sanitisation department of the GHMC filed a writ petition in 2018 seeking



regularisation. Counsel for the petitioners Chikkudu Prabhakar argued that it would be unconstitutional to continue the staff as contract employees forever. 

The judge directed the GHMC to pay the petitioners on par with the payscales of the permanent employees working in the corporation till the regularisation was affected.
