The Telangana High Court on Friday issued contempt notices to the state government, principal secretary, health, for not following its orders on the appointment of regular Director of Medical Education (DME).

In April, the court had directed the government to appoint the most senior among doctors on the teaching side as DME, subject to eligibility and suitability, by taking into account the services rendered on the teaching side alone, as per the decision of the Supreme

Court in Challa Java Bhaskar vs Thunqathurthi Surender.

The court at that time was dealing a petition challenging GO 603 which appointed Dr K. Ramesh Reddy as incharge DME. The court also suspended GO 603 in April.

The interim orders were not been implemented and the petitioners filed a contempt case against the government which resulted in the court issuing notices. The court adjourned the case for three weeks.
