Telangana High Court issues notice to State official

A two judge panel of the Telangana High Court comprising Chief Justice Hima Kohli and Justice B Vijaysen Reddy on Wednesday issued suo motto notice to Ravi Gupta, Principle Secretary Home, to purge himself of contempt of court.

The panel was hearing a PIL on the question of filling up vacancies of the posts of Additional Public Prosecutors. The State Government was previously directed to file an affidavit pertaining



to posts lying empty for two years for the post of Additional Public Prosecutors in Criminal Courts. 

The Panel observed that if the same is not complied with it would be construed as a gross obstruction of justice and delay in trials in criminal cases since Additional Public Prosecutors have a pivotal role to play in these matters. The matter has been adjourned to July 7
