The Telangana HC on Wednesday stayed urban local bodies elections to the Miryalguda, Meepet, Mahbubnagar, and Bandlaguda Jagir municipalities until due process was followed in respect of delimitation of wards.

Justice P. Naveen Rao passed the interim orders on individual petitions filed by the residents of these municipalities stating that the division and delimitation of

the wards was illegal and ultra vires to the Telangana Municipalities Act and the Rules.

Taking the petitioners’ submissions into consideration, the judge stayed the election to the four municipalities until due process was followed in respect of the delimitation. The judge admitted the petitions and issued notices to respondents.
