Telangana High Court suspends transfer of Hindi pandit

A two-judge panel of the Telangana High Court on Wednesday suspended the transfer of a Hindi pandit on the grounds of discrimination by the State government. Suguna Bai, a Hindi pandit from Adilabad, a widow, was transferred to Asifabad.
The panel reasoned that the constitution of new
districts necessitated transfers but faulted the classification of widows in the transfer list as widows appointed on compassionate appointments were exempt from transfers. The panel accordingly suspended the transfer and directed her continuance in the same post.
