The State government has launched a special Covid vaccination drive for all individuals in Telangana who are travelling abroad for work.
All such eligible persons can now walk into designated Government Covid Vaccination Centres (GCVC) in nine districts across the State. However, they have to produce a valid passport and a work permit visa at the centre. The vaccinators will register the eligible individuals in the CoWIN portal and upload the image of the work visa in the special category at the time of administering the second dose.
The eligible persons will be administered with Covishield, and the second dose will be given after 28 days, Director of Public Health Dr G Srinivasa Rao said in a press release.
The DPH has directed District Medial and Health Officers (DM&HOs) to make necessary arrangements by
designating one deputy DM&HO and a supervisory cadre officer as in-charge of the vaccination centre to oversee the entire process.
The special drive will be conducted at urban primary health centres (UPHCs) in nine districts, including Adilabad (RIMS), Nizamabad (Vinayaknagar), Karimnagar (Buttarajaram Colony), Warangal (Laskar Singaram), Khammam (Venkateshwara Nagar), Medak, Mahabubnagar (Ramaiahbowly), Nalgonda (Panagal), Rangareddy (Saroornagar) and Hyderabad at RFPTC, Koti, and Taramaidan in Hussainialam.
A few weeks ago, the State Health Department had concluded a similar Covid vaccination drive that vaccinated nearly 8,000 students from the State who were travelling abroad to pursue higher studies. They were administered with Covishield at the Institute of Preventive Medicine (IPM), Narayanguda.
