The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD)-Hyderabad issued a heavy rainfall alert for almost all districts across the State for the next 48 hours, even as intense thunderstorms lashed Hyderabad and districts on Tuesday.
In its 48-hour forecast, the IMD-H predicted heavy rainfall for Hyderabad, Rangareddy, Medchal-Malkajgiri, Vikarabad, Sangareddy, Medak, Kumuram Bheem Asifabad, Mancherial, Nirmal, Nizamabad, Bhadradri Kothagudem, Khammam, Nalgonda, Suryapet, Kamareddy, Mahabubnagar, Nagarkurnool, Wanaparthy, Narayanpet and Jogulamba Gadwal.
Apart from heavy rainfall alert, the IMD-H also issued a thunderstorm warning accompanied with lightning and gusty winds ranging from 30 to 60 kmph for Adilabad, Kumuram Bheem Asifabad, Mancherial, Nirmal, Nizamabad, Karimnagar, Peddapalli, Jayashankar Bhupalpally, Nalgonda, Siddipet, Rangareddy, Hyderabad,
Medchal Malkajgiri, Vikarabad, Sangareddy, Medak, Kamareddy, Mahabubnagar, Nagarkurnool, Wanaparthy, Narayanpet, Jogulamba Gadwal, Jagitial, Rajanna Sircilla, Mulugu, Bhadradri Kothagudem, Khammam, Suryapet, Mahabubabad, Warangal, Hanamkonda, Jangaon, Yadadri Bhongir districts of Telangana State.
Meanwhile, till Tuesday evening, based on the hourly rainfall data collected by the Telangana Development Planning Society (TSDPS), a large number of areas in Hyderabad received heavy to moderate rainfall. Areas in and around Saroornagar, Rock Town colony, Nagole received a maximum of 86 mm of rainfall followed by Bandlaguda, which received 75.5 mm and Habsiguda 70.3 mm.
Some of the other regions that received moderate showers on Tuesday include Ramanthapur (51 mm), Hayathnagar 50.55 mm and Osmania University which received 42.5 mm of rainfall.
