Mulugu: Minister for Panchayat Raj and Rural Development Errabelli Dayakar Rao along with Minister for Tribal Welfare Satyavathi Rathod inaugurated several facilities at Medaram in the district on Sunday.

The facilities include water purification plant, Mission Bhagiratha plant, sheds to provide shading to the devotees and renovated tribal museum. Dayakar Rao also launched the cultural programmes being organised by the Koya tribes on the premises of the tribal museum near Sammakka-Saralamma



shrine.

On the occasion, the Minister, who handed over the documents that would give rights (Forest Rights Act, 2006) to possess the land of nearly 800 acres of land to the ‘Vaddes’ (Koya priests), stressed on the need to protect the Aadivasi culture. He also said that they were taking all steps for the smooth conduct of the tribal jatara. Former MP Sitaram Naik, Collector RV Karnan, SP Sangaram Singh G Patil and others accompanied the Minister.
