The high-end diagnostic tool is meant to evaluate various sections of the heart by creating images and guide the surgeons to take-up complicated heart surgeries. The OGH is the first government hospital to be equipped with the modern 2D-Echo machine manufactured by Philips, Superintendent, OGH, Dr G Nagender, while inaugurating the system on Wednesday, said.
The 2D-Echo will play a vital role in conducting free diagnostic services for poor patients in Telangana with heart ailments, he
said.
The Philips EPIQ CVx 2-D Echo cardiovascular ultrasound system enables care givers to better understand structural abnormalities in the heart and impacted blood flows that will aid them in performing the corrective procedures. “I thank the State government for procuring such a high-end diagnostic equipment to diagnose heart ailments. The equipment will be a boon for poor patients,” Dr Nagender added.
Head of Cardiology, OGH, Dr Syed Imamuddin said that the instead of advising patients to conduct such tests in private diagnostic facilities, such high-end services will now be available for poor patients at OGH itself. Senior RMOs, faculty, doctors and other staff were present during the inauguration of the 2D-Echo machine.
