Telangana Fair Price Shops Ration Dealers Welfare association president Nayakoti Raju, on Sunday, said their proposed indefinite strike from July 1 onwards will not be withdrawn until the government implements their demanding demands.
Civil Supplies Commissioner Akun Sabharwal held talks with ration dealers on Sunday. He informed them that a threemember committee was being constituted to look into their concerns, study their demands, and report back to Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao for final approval. He warned them that they could be replaced at the discretion of the
civil supplies dept, and that the strike was illegal and could attract prosecution or stringent action action.
“There are about 85 lakh beneficiaries of state public distribution system. The proposed strike will result in many beneficiaries who are poor being impacted badly,” Akun Sabharwal said, appealing to dealers to call off the proposed strike.
He made it clear that that civil supplies dept was prepared to ensure that essential commodities reach beneficiaries despite a strike by dealers.
