After a long gap of four years the Telangana State tableau will pass through the Rajpath on January 26, 2020 with all its might depicting its rich and vibrant culture of the young State. The tableau presented by the State government has been selected in its full form without any changes.
The theme of the tableau is “Bathukamma” and “Medaram” festival against the backdrop of Thousand Pillar temple. The tableau which will have two main parts will have the flower bunch of Bathukamma festival leading the carrier, followed by a lady carrying the
Jaggery called Bangaram offered to the deities at Medaram. Folk artists will accompany the tableau performing live.
It was in 2015 that the first ever tableau of Telangana came up on Rajpath. It was about the Bonalu festival where in 25 artists participated. It was the ninth in the list on the cultural pageant in which 25 tableaus took part. The State’s proposal for the depiction of Sammakka Sarakka Jatara, the largest tribal festival in the country has been rejected by the selection committee in 2018.
