The Telangana State Wakf Board on Monday launched a new education aid scheme by providing notebooks to poor Muslim students.
Under this scheme, the Wakf Board will distribute over 50,000 notebooks to Muslim primary schools and madrasa students, who belong to poor families.
Wakf Board chairman Mohammed Saleem said 2,000 notebooks were distributed at Haj House on Monday, with the remaining 48,000 books to be distributed in a
week. The board also has a plan to provide textbooks and school bags to socially and economically backward Muslim students, he said.
Saleem said no other Wakf Board in the country was doing the kind of welfare activities that were being done in Telangana. “Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao had advised us to convert the Wakf Board into a self financing institution for the Muslim community,” he added.
