Students from across Telangana state will get android tablets. The tablets will be provided by the Telangana Social Welfare Residential Educational Institutions Society (TSWREIS).
The first set of tablets will be provided to 1120 students from 14 schools as part of the initiative. Rest of the schools in the state will receive the tablets in a phased manner
“These students are from residential schools, we will be providing the tablets to students of higher classes. Most of these students are from schedule castes and schedule tribes, their parents are daily wage labourers and are illiterate. The tablet will help provide them will skills they need to compete
with in a global work force,” said Dr B Venkat Raju, spokesperson for TSWREIS.
Each tablet costing Rs 13,000 will be pre-loaded with text books, animated educational videos, various assignments. We will also be providing the Internet facility to the students with the tablets, he added.Jayesh Ranjan, IAS, Secretary IT, Electronics and Communication, Government of Telangana, will distribute the tablets to students at TSWR School on Tuesday.
The programme is completely government funded and will be expanded across the state in the months to come. “This is made possible only because of chief minister,” said RS Praveen Kumar, secretary of TSWREIS.
