Union Minister of State for Jal Shakti Bishweswar Tudu on Thursday said Telangana government has submitted seven Detailed Project Reports (DPRs) while Andhra Pradesh submitted one DPR to Godavari River Management Board (GRMB) on new projects.
Replying to a question from Congress MP N Uttam Kumar Reddy, he said the Ministry of Jal Shakti had notified the jurisdiction of Krishna River Management Board (KRMB) and GRMB in the Gazette dated July 15, 2021.
He said both the States agreed for setting up of a Godavari Tribunal for adjudicating on the sharing of the waters of Godavari between AP and Telangana. The union
Minister requested both the States to send their proposal for the same.
However, no proposal or request for constitution of a new Tribunal has been received either from Telangana or Andhra Pradesh.
To another question from Telangana MPs Kotha Prabhakar Reddy, Manne Srinivas Reddy and Komatireddy Venkat Reddy on the Centre’s proposals to construction check dams, the Minister said water was a State subject and the Central government supplemented the efforts of States on water conservation including construction of check dams through technical and financial support.
