Finance Minister T Harish Rao on Friday said revenue shortfall in the State on account of Covid-19 was as much as Rs 1 lakh crore in the past one and half year.
“This shortfall pushed the State into financial problems and it could not sanction funds for people who own lands to take up construction of 2BHK houses in the past one year. The government, despite the revenue issues, will start sanctioning the funds soon,” he said, participating in the “Palle Pragathi” programme at Dandupally village in Manoharabad Mandal. The government, he said, will sanction funds for 50 2BHK houses in Dandupally for the poorer sections.

Dandupally, interacted with the elderly persons, students and farmers to know their issues. As the Sarpanch of the village urged the Minister to grant some funds for taking up drain works, Rao granted Rs 25 lakh besides granting funds for Mahila Bhavan and SC Community Hall.
However, the Minister appealed to the citizens to put a collective effort to keep the village clean and green drawing spirit from Palle Pragathi. He has appreciated the work of the Sarpanch and Panchayat Secretary at the village. Collector S Harish, Forest Development Corporation Chairman Vanteru Prathap Reddy, Zilla Parishad Chairperson R Hemalatha and others were present.
