Amid the lockdown imposed to contain the second wave of Covid pandemic, the State government has decided to serve free food to the needy. The Annapurna canteens will offer hot and hygienic meals for free.
“Based on the instructions of Minister @KTRTRS, the Annapurna meals is being supplied free with immediate effect until further orders in all the
250 centres in @GHMCOnline,” tweeted MAUD principal secretary Arvind Kumar.
As on date, around 250 canteens are serving food to more than 45,000 persons in different parts of the city. These free meals are a boon especially for daily wage workers, hawkers and people living in shelter homes.
