Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao on Thursday announced that Telangana State will soon have seven zones and two multi-zones that will govern employment, promotions and transfers of State government employees. The Chief Minister said the government decision was in tune with its endeavour to provide adequate benefits to those living in their local areas as well as in the backdrop of formation of smaller districts.
The Chief Minister said that following the formation of Telangana and the subsequent reorganization of districts from the initial 10 to 31, it had become necessary to reorganize
the zonal system.
The announcement followed a high level review by the Chief Minister on the zonal reorganization at Pragati Bhavan here. The new system, Chandrashekhar Rao said, has been formulated to ensure that all employees of the Telangana government will benefit. It will also remove confusion of the past system when Telangana region was divided into two zones in undivided Andhra Pradesh, which many government employees’ organizations found inconvenient and used to complain of injustice in postings, promotions and transfers.
